Marian is your host for the duration of your stay. Think of Coolbawn as your home from home in the countryside with everything in readiness for your arrival. Charming in every way, Marian will greet you on arrival, mingle with you through ‘Happy Hour Drinks’ and guide you through every stage of the retreat.

After 25 years in the hospitality industry Marian embarked on a 3 month residential  course at Ballymaloe Cookery School in 2010. With the skills and knowledge she gained from this course combined with cookery courses in Bali, Vietnam and Thailand, Marion set up Manna Bia Foods, a wholefoods plant based food business in Tipperary. From Farmers Markets, Event Catering, Pop Ups and Cookery Demos Marion shares her passion for nutritious, healthy foods that are simple, fresh and easy to prepare.

food | ali haslam

Ali will be your private chef and will lovingly prepare all meals throughout the retreat. As Ali is Vegan all dishes will be plant based. As part of the retreat offering she will demonstrate her amazing cooking skills and set you on course to grow and develop your own.

Ali’s vibrant cooking focuses specifically on plant based ingredients to make colourful, nourishing food. Ali has a special interest in plants, traditional & world recipes, post-animal agriculture & alternative nutrition. A lifelong vegetarian with a keen interest in wild food and the healing power of whole foods Ali has developed her flair for cooking both making vegetarian products for market and working as a café chef over the past 10 years before starting her own business Mountain Road Kitchen, selling pickles, preserves, dips, sauces and other plant based deli items made from botanical produce only.

For those of you who enjoy more varied sources of protein, our house Chef Len has put together an additional ‘a la carte’ menu offering.

Using a combination of massage techniques from around the world with the blend of exotic cultures, colours and fragrances adds to the sensuality of the experience. Aisling is our Wellness Director and under her guidance our team of therapists will bring you to another level of relaxation and well being. Dedicated to delivering the ultimate wellness experience to every guest on every level Aisling looks forward to assisting you on your journey to improve relaxation and wellbeing.

Aisling has been working within the beauty/wellness industry for the past sixteen years and has a passion for natural products, healthy living and plant based food.

Educated in a broad range of treatments including massage, face and body therapies, beauty treatments and make-up artistry.

yoga | emma bourke kennedy

Emma has been fortunate enough to study under inspired teachers such as Ravi Chanchani (Nepal), Chuck Miller (USA), Devki Desai (Pune, India) and Marie Quail (Belfast). Having completed David Curtis’s year-long teacher training course in Vinyasa Flow Yoga in 2010 Emma advanced even further and completed a second year-long course in Level 2. With many years experience hosting workshops, teaching classes in studios and in house for large corporations, Emma brings to you a wisdom and refined understanding of the inner being.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a way of moving your body with your breath and drawing your awareness inside. This teaches you to develop a practice that brings your thinking body to peace and allows your feeling body take temporary priority. This quietens the chattering mind and withdraws the senses inward, giving you an opportunity to abandon the chaos of the outside world and enter into an inner place of clarity and peace – where truth can eventually be realized.

A woman of many talents, Emma is also your Reflexologist during the Retreat. She is a member of the Irish Reflexologists Institute and the Association of Reflexologists of Great Britain. Highly skilled with ABC Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology - Suaimhneas Reflexology, Dublin. Reflexology relaxes the mind and body enabling the client to reach a deeper state of relaxation with far reaching effects: stimulating blood and lymph flow; re-balances the body’s natural equilibrium.

yoga | ellen baggs

After many years  studying  different disciplines of yoga Ellen qualified as an Iyengar Yoga Instructor in 2014 having studied for three years with Aisling McGuire, Ireland’s most senior Iyengar Yoga Instructor, and has been teaching full time since. The focus  on the alignment, proper sequencing, safety and accessibility for all levels and abilities that characterise the Iyengar method were fundamental in her decision to become a teacher. Based on the teachings of B.K.S Iyengar, this 2500 year old classical yoga begins with the physical awareness of the body, builds strength and stamina while focusing on the importance of posture and flexibility at any age.

Claire Dolan is a Master Herbalist and teacher, with multiple certifications, including vitalist nutrition, reflexology, massage, aromatherapy and iridology. Claire’s herbal clinic, Lavida Herbs, is the culmination of a life long passion in all that is natural and over two decades of work within the natural therapy profession.
